Jozef ADAMEC

One
of the most famous Slovak football players of post war era. Temperament
football player, great striker, later equally great passer. Without doubt
the best goal scorer. When he was ending his professional football career
there were 170 Premier league goals on his account. In the historic table
of Czechoslovak players is on 3 - Th. place.
From birthplace Vrbove came as 16 year old into younior team of FC
Spartak Trnava and already in March 1959 substituted in 77- Th. minute
of Premier league match against RH Brno ( currently Czech rep. )
for injured Kois. In 1961 went to Dukla Prague (Czech rep. ) to fulfill
army duty and absolved with club trip to USA. He was so good, that trainer
of Czechoslovak national team Vytlacil took him to
World cup 1962 ( Chile ), where played in games against Spain, Brazil
and Mexico.
In 1963 returned to FC Spartak Trnava, for two years looked for a previous
form in SK Slovan Bratislava. His best football years began in 1966, and
had an enormous merit on 5 titles ( Czechoslovak champion ) of FC Spartak
Trnava. For Czechoslovak national team played 44 matches, but because later
use to play in the midfield, scored only 14 goals. Often injuries prevented
him from playing more international matches with representation of Czechoslovakia.
